Review
Herbert Park has two playgrounds, one of them is closer to Donnybrook (Herbert Park playground 2), the other one clearly belongs to Ballsbridge. This playground is bigger, than the older one and it has junior and senior play areas. There are three multi play units, two for younger kids and one for children above 4-5. The senior section contains several climbing structures and two swings, whereas the junior section has a see-saw, a roundabout swing, two spinners, two springers, zillions of swings and a unique wooden statue of a big bird. The most recent addition to the playground is a tiny sandpit with a digger, which is very popular with toddlers.
The playground is well-equipped and well-maintained, the only problem is the surface: from autumn until spring it is very-very muddy and after heavy rain you can expect a few puddles as well.
If you or the kids are interested in model boats, you should definitely visit Herbert Park on a Sunday morning when spring arrives, as from 11 o'clock you can watch some beautiful model boats racing on the lake and if you are lucky, their proud owners will tell you their wonderful stories as well.
From 2016, on Sundays, there is a farmers' market next to the playground from 11.00 until 16.00.
